George Green L3510 with a proud history as a Hall Stone Lodge were absolutely delighted to initiate five student candidates at our inaugural meeting Saturday 22^nd January as a member of the UGLE Universities Scheme which was the culmination of a long journey to transition into a viable and vibrant US lodge within the London area under the immediate auspices of Metropolitan Grand Lodge.

At Saturday’s meeting the Lodge was greatly honoured by the presence of the Assistant Grand Master together with the Chairman of the Universities Scheme and PGM of Oxfordshire both representing ‘Head office’ together with the past Chairman and MetGInsp who now has responsibility for all Universities Lodges in London.
Having the Festive Board in the Vestibule outside Grand Temple, which was open, made the occasion even more unique especially when the AGM gave our new initiates an impromptu tour of the Grand Temple which they all greatly appreciated.
The AMetGM who led the transition as the previous Inspector of the group of lodges to which George Green previously belonged was installed as the first Worshipful Master in its new Universities Scheme guise at the last Installation Meeting.
At this Meeting on Saturday, he conducted the multiple ceremony in a very warm and welcoming manner significantly supported by many SVOs and VOs from his former Inspectorate together with the Inspector who was his predecessor. Unfortunately the current Inspector was isolating from covid. It was also gratifying to be joined by members of George Green’s ‘old guard’ who equally enhanced this especial occasion.
Going forward we look forward to passing our candidates in March and raising them at our October meeting whilst growing George Green into London’s friendly and fun US London Lodge albeit ever mindful that the entire rationale for creating a successful Universities Scheme Lodge is to nurture and develop a stream of young men of the right stuff into Master Masons who will have the skills and confidence to take over and make George Green their own mother lodge including our first five initiates who are the vanguards of that masonic mission to fulfil our aim.

George Green were utterly thrilled to initiate three student candidates at our 2023 inaugural meeting on Saturday 28^th January and we very much look forward to passing our candidates in March and raising them later in October.
